Nainital is a popular hill station in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and serves as the headquarters of the Nainital district in the Kumaon foothills of the outer Himalayas. Nestled in a picturesque valley, Nainital is centered around a pear-shaped lake that spans approximately two miles in circumference and is encircled by majestic mountains. Notable peaks surrounding the town include Naina Peak to the north, Deopatha to the west, and Ayarpatha to the south.
Nainital experiences temperate summers, with temperatures ranging from a maximum of 27°C to a minimum of 3°C. During this season, the town's population increases more than fivefold due to an influx of tourists, predominantly from the plains of Northern India. In winter, Nainital receives snowfall from December to February, with temperatures varying between a maximum of 10 to 12°C and a minimum of -1 to -3°C.
